Behind the Scenes: The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters!

Following on from our Cape Fear-inspired anniversary special, we again drew inspiration from a classic movie for this week's episode.

Here is a selection of images from Hitchcock's 'Spellbound', particularly the dream sequence, together with our equivalents on those brilliant scenes:

We aimed for similar lighting, but with greater contrast, as is more our style.

"Tell me all about it...!"

At the opening of Dali's dream sequence, a myriad eyes overlap and move about, becoming the strange curtain of a night-club.

Our reference is via the hypnotic gaze of the mysterious scientist-analyst figure.

Dali's trademark ever-lengthening black shadows run through the sequence.

We went for a generally high-contrast feel, with some abstract shadows thrown in.

In our night-terror scenario, our old adversary The Crow, took flight once again, terrorising its victims through adopting a range of frightening proportions.

Our hooded figure may seem like a reference to Magritte, but he is more a version of the faceless night-club owner from the Spellbound dream sequence.

Look out for a further Dali reference in Monday's instalment.

If you have been affected by any of the images in this week's episode, please contact us immediately and we will direct you to suitable help!

Behind the Scenes: Anniversary Special / The Two Reach Two

Our Second Anniversary Special echoes the first one  as it once again features our two characters at the table confronting a special cake.

This time round, the cutting of the cake seems to have taken on quite sinister, disturbing overtones.

You will, no doubt, have spotted how our episode title spoofs the well-known thriller 'Cape Fear'.  The full episode has other references to the movie, too.  Hamish cunningly recreated a logo based on an original one, but adapted in appropriate form:

This we superimposed over a test shot, giving us a title frame for our anniversary special.

This still from Scorsese's remake, of de Niro's tattooed forearm was also inspirational:

We also used this still (below), but you'll have to wait until tomorrow before you see the resulting strange image and the dramatic conclusion to our anniversary special!

A very big thank-you to all who have been following our postings so far.  We appreciate it!

Stay tuned, and join the adventure!
